There is no greater challenge then working as a carpenter on a boat. So many rounded surfaces and virtually nothing is built square. Here is the latest project I have taken on – a couple of stairs on a boat undergoing refurbishment. But rather than simply redoing these stairs, we decided to add some pizazz by making them out of NW maple and using a technique known as lichtenberg burning. Electricity coursing through the wood at 4000 volts. Add a touch of linseed oil to bring out the natural beauty and you are set. If you are going to take on a project, do it in style.
